Quick intro and question.

Hello everyone! I'm a n00b to the whole series as I just managed to get ahold of it recently. I have to say I'm quite impressed with it. I've already watched it through twice and for me that's saying something.

I suppose my big question is about merchandising and art books. I know it's a relatively short series. Only 2 manga volumes correct? So I'm certain it doesn't have the marketing frenzy that something the size of Naruto or Fullmetal Alchemist would but I would certainly love to get my hands on artbooks and resin kits. I think I saw something along the lines of a glowstick on a webpage a while back which was interesting. I've browsed www.e2046.com for resin kits of the mechs and the characters and I've come up with nothing so far. Does anything actually exist?

To my knowledge, there are no resin kits. I'm not sure about the artbooks though...

Yeah, I figured if e2046.com didn't yield anything I was going to have a rough time finding anything of the sort. I would say if I wasn't such a novice at it I'd try doing a custom kit but I don't have the facilities for that.

I'll keep everyone posted if I do happen to find anything to purchase in the artbook dept. if I find anything.

There's a book of character designs/sketches/other resource materials, but that's the only thing remotely "artbook" that I've seen so far.

And yes, there are glowsticks. The sheer randomness of merchandising for this series doesn't beat the sheer randomness of the series itself, but it does come close.

I love the glowsticks. You're right it IS *almost* as random as the series.

There's only a sketchbook of what I know, black and white line drawings. There aren't any resin kits either (yet).
As for the manga, the second Tankubon was only released last month (possibly 2 months ago) in Japan, and I think it's still being continued.. but don't quote me on that one. ^_^;

It's a shame there isn't much merchandise for KannaMiko, all other Kaishaku series have had at least *some* merchandise that's easy to get a hold of (apart from maybe some stuff like artbooks - I had to get my Steel Angel Kurumi ones from Rinkya [Y!Japan] - but you can find them on eBay from time to time), such as bookmarks, resin kits, completed models, artbooks, shijitaki, phone cards, keychains and more.
More recent series seem to be dwindling in merchandise of what I've seen, usually 12 or 13 episode series (KannaMiko, Loveless, etc). There is merchandise available, just not very much, and very limited edition compared to series like Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Bleach or Tsubasa -Reservoir Chronicle- (though Tsubasa's probably down to the fame of the creators and manga more than anything - there's a lot of demand in Japan).

Hopefully there will be more KannaMiko stuff released someday if the manga continues, but for now it's.. very limited.

I've been looking at a local Japanes book store for the tankouban but nothing has managed to show yet so I'm probably just going to have to get them online as usual.

I'm going to keep an eye out for the sketchbook at least. I have this terrible habit if buying merchandise every chance I get (I'm paying for it now that I'm having to move out of the apartment and pack it up ><;; )

I have to agree with what you're saying about the 12-13 episode series. They've managed to convert some really entertaining stuff into a nice compact anime form within the past couple of years but I think they've forgotten that merchandise WILL sell if they make it available. I think between Juuni Kokki, KannaMiko, Loveless, Xenosaga, and Sousei no Aquarion I've managed to really back myself into a corner as of recent. When there is merchandise it's extremely rare and/or expensive and as bad as I want it I just can't justify it most of the time. Why can't it just be like Evangelion? I mean they're making merchandise to this day and it's been since 1997. Now THAT is marketing!
